When you need something these days, how do you find it? You guessed it, you Google it! But if you hear about a great new brand, and your Google search turns up with no results to that brand's website, if you're anything like me, your trust in that brand is then discredited. The same is said for actors... if you can't be found, you can't be taken seriously. Sure you may have a few social media links come up in the search, so if they really want to get in touch, they'll find a way. But the goal here is to give them one professional place to see all your materials, and contact details, and trust that they can get in touch with you just as they would any reputable business.

I have also had profiles on upwards of 10 different casting profile websites in Australia and the US, and still do! They are a necessity in finding work, and getting auditions in any market. However, they are only the first step in having a quality presence online. The reason you need a great website for actors is simple. You need control over how the world sees you. On a casting profile you are relying on their profile structure. You have a headshot, a showreel or two, and a resume. There is nothing to tell us who you are. You are just another profile amongst thousands. You need a custom branded actor website to showcase who "you" are, and why they should trust you. Also, nothing beats the feeling of saying "yea just see my website, joshfutcher.com, its all there". As opposed to reeling off a long impersonal casting profile link that they will never remember. Again, its about setting yourself up as a professional business that buyers can trust, and an actor website that represents your brand, your personality, and your talent, is the first step in making sure you are taken seriously as a professional actor in this online world.
